Mechanical Properties of Strengthening 5083-H111 Aluminum Alloy Plates at Elevated Temperatures

The use of aluminum alloys for external strengthening reinforced concrete (RC) beams has been capturing research interest. Exposure to harsh environmental conditions can severely impact the efficiency. This works aims investigate degradation in mechanical properties alloy AA 5083 plates when exposed temperatures ranging from 25 300 °C. Quasi-static Isothermal tensile experiments were conducted at different temperatures. It was observed experimental results that yield strength remained constant temperature range 25–150 °C before starting drop beyond 150 °C, with a total reduction ≈ 40% elastic modulus sensitive about 25% 200 experiencing significant and pronounced percentage drops stiffness 62.8% 38%, respectively. In addition, Mechanical Threshold Strength Model (MTS) parameters established capture dependence. Two analytical models developed based on results. Both reasonably predict as function temperature. concluded should be properly insulated used externally bonded reinforcement strengthen RC beams.
